Texas Revolution Volleyball’s 16 Elite has quickly become one of the country’s best teams, currently ranked #8 in the nation by Prepvolleyball.com. First, the team traveled to Anaheim, California, to participate in the Southern California Junior Olympic Qualifier. The tournament is considered by many to be the toughest because all of the California teams play in the tournament. The team won the tournament and an Open bid to the Junior Olympics by defeating Laguna in the Semi-finals and Mizuno Long Beach in the Finals. Both teams were ranked in the top 5 in the country at the time. Only five days later the team traveled to Dallas and finished with another top 10 finish at the Mizuno Lone Star Classic National Qualifier.
TRV is a member club of USA Volleyball, which holds the Junior Olympics from the end of June through July. The Junior Olympics has three divisions for each age group with Open being the highest division and most selective with only 28 teams receiving an Open bid. This year the Junior Olympics will be held at the Miami Convention Center, just blocks from South Beach!
TRV 14 Elite players and coaches are pictured at the Lone Star Classic National Qualifer, left to right, front row: Ashley Smith, Courtney Richardson, Sam Volk, Niki Morales, Jordan Fandry, Rebecca Watson, Lily Elsner; back row: Coach James Arthur, Elaine Weiss, Sarah Strasner, Sarah Sciacca and Coach Sara Arthur.
Texas Revolution Volleyball’s 14 Elite claimed the second Open bid for the club this last weekend at the Mizuno Lone Star Classic National Qualifier held in Dallas. The girls beat two great teams, Victory 14 Elite and Mad Frogs 14 National, on Saturday to secure its Open bid and summer vacation to Miami. The team finished 5th overall in the prestigious tournament.
The bid was worth the wait as this was the team’s last chance to qualify. The team previously traveled to Denver, Colorado, and Anaheim, California, to try to qualify for the Junior Olympics. In both events the girls showed signs that they belonged at the highest level, but fell victim to a couple of bad pools where they had to play already qualified teams. While the tournaments did not go as planned, they did give them the experience necessary to win the bid in Dallas.
The club is very proud of both teams and would like to congratulate the players and coaches for all their hard work and dedication.
TRV 16 Elite finished the Tour of Texas with an amazing performance winning 2nd place in Division 1 of the Tour Finals. Along the way the team beat Texas Tornados 15 Mizuno, ranked #2 in the nation by Prepvolleyball.com; Texas Tornados 16 Mizuno, which is ranked #2 in the state by Lonestarvolleyball.com and has already won an Open bid to the Junior Olympics; Brazos Valley 16 Mizuno and Braggin’ Rights, ranked #10 in the state by Lonestarvolleyball.com. The team battled hard in the finals but lost to SSVBC out of San Antonio.
The girls also finished 3rd place on throughout the four tournament series, placing 1st, 3rd, 5th and 2nd respectively. The club is very proud of these girls for all their hard work and the success that has come with it.
TRV 17 Elite headed to San Antonio in need of a couple of wins to get back on the winning track. The team didn’t disappoint as they took down Austin Juniors 17 Red and Extec 17 National. The team showed off their dominating offense and defense in both matches and continued to show why they are considered one of the top teams in the state. The team will be headed to Atlanta and the Big South Qualifier where they will hopefully earn a bid to the Junior Olympics
TRV 15s team showed their dominant form at the Cross Court Classic. TRV 15 Black led the way as they placed 3rd out of 67 teams in the 15 Club division. TRV 15 Select finished with a 4-1 record and a 5th place finish in the 15 Elite division. The Cross Court Classic is one of the largest tournaments in the Houston area and brings some of the best teams from Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas and even Louisiana.
TRV goes Gold at TCS and Tour Qualifier
For the first time in its short history, Texas Revolution Volleyball has qualified four teams in the Gold division in the Texas Championship Series and Tour of Texas. The four teams combined match record was 26-0 and only lost three sets between them. Both tournaments are considered the top tournament series in the state and draw teams from Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Dallas, and even some teams from Oklahoma.
